How much exercise is enough?


People often ask me how much exercise is necessary to stay healthy and what exactly should I do to stay fit and trim? I know there is a lot of information out there and it can be intimidating and confusing. This is why I recommend the simple guidelines from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).


Their recommendations are simple and relatively easy to attain. The guidelines for exercise depend on your age and whether or not you have a chronic illness like heart disease or diabetes.

These guidelines have also been studied by the American Heart Association, who demonstrated that this amount of exercise has a preventative effect on many common conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

  1. Start slowly and increase intensity over time.

  2. Find movement that you love and helps you feel good.

  3. Invite a friend to join you and make it fun!
